CHA staff have years of experience in generating resources for programs that partner with consumers and providers in developing more accessible, effective and efficient systems of care for elders. Some such elder focused collaborations include: Teach Me To Grow Healthy: Intergenerational Community Garden and Healthy Foods Program; Elder Gap Services; Shared World Tours; Caregiver Coalition; and Philips Lifeline.

“Teach Me To Grow Healthy: Intergenerational Community Garden and Healthy Foods program” (TMTGH) is a project that emphasizes the importance of nurturing, self-sufficiency, and education. TMTGH seeks to create a usable community-oriented, culturally sensitive program that improves the exercise, nutritional support, and holistic care of Indigenous and Non-Native older adult and youth communities, enhancing mental health. www.addinglifetoyears.com/programs
Elder Gap Services is dedicated to filling a need in our local community. Elder Gap Funding is available to assist low income seniors, caregivers, and people with disabilities who:
– Wish to remain in their homes to continue independent living in the least restrictive environment or;
– Are in need of respite (escorted transportation, personal care needed for a few hours, etc. to give the Caregiver a break);
– Reside within Washoe County;
– Are seeking a service or are in need of an item not available due to:
– Gap in service: no other community agency able to fill need of service or item and have exhausted all
other resources available to them
– Lack of resources (income)
– Will be negatively impacted if funding is not received

Elders Count Elders Count Nevada 2021 is a fact book that provides authoritative data on the number and condition of our state’s elder population, including some of the lowest public health indicators, demanding that we improve the awareness of the elder population’s needs and the challenges they face. The report contains some legislative policy recommendations that identifies needs and sets priorities. The state’s Adult and Disability Services Division has provided the leadership and direction to produce Elders Count Nevada every two years starting in 2021.
